Title: Chief Compliance Officer (Healthcare)
Location: Fully remote in the US
Travel: Must be able to travel 20-30%
Job Description:
As the department leader and subject matter expert, the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for establishing and communicating easily understandable compliance standards to the organization as well as implementing effective and efficient policies and procedures that ensure the identification, prevention, and remediation of noncompliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules.
- Create, implement, and regularly review/update policies and procedures designed to meet the compliance requirements of the company, federal healthcare programs or other applicable fraud and abuse agencies.
- Respond to alleged violations of relevant company policies and procedures and/or local, state, federal laws or regulations including conducting or overseeing investigations when appropriate and ensure effective consistent corrective measure.
- Ensure compliance reporting, hotline maintenance and education, and documentation activities efficiently and effectively completed.
- Perform annual risk assessment to define audits needed.
- Monitor new hire, annual, and ad hoc compliance training for awareness, completeness, and effectiveness
- Generate company-wide compliance awareness campaign via various mediums including print, digital, and meeting/trainings materials that educate employees regarding new or changing policies, regulations, etc.
- Demonstrate the company's commitment to ethical business practices by facilitating consistent messaging to employees and providing guidance to company leadership resolution on complex business issues that may intersect with federal or state laws or agencies.
- Overseeing the tactical day-to-day operation of the compliance department.
- Ensure monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting as appropriate to the compliance committee and company leadership.
- Bachelor's degree required
- Relevant healthcare compliance certification preferred
- Detail oriented
- Ability to identify potential compliance risks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply complex state and federal health care compliance laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Ability to form strong collaborative interpersonal relationships with leaders of the organization
- Ability to inspire a high level of credibility and accountability in position, program, and department
Experience: 10+ years of management level healthcare regulatory compliance experience required, in a diagnostic laboratory or similar organization preferred
