Job Overview:
Manage the engineering/maintenance operations of the hotel to ensure safety and comfort of hotel guests and team members. Follow brand standards and national and/or local regulatory requirements. May have responsibility for the Loss Prevention function. the Hotel maintenance engineer is also responsible for all areas, meeting spaces, restaurant, bar, sauna, fitness center, pool area and hotel guestroom preventative maintenance and assists repairs and maintenance of hotel equipment including mechanical equipment such as pumps and motors and Guest Room Repairs.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Returns:
  • Implement policies and procedures under the guidance of the General Manager.
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Keep all record pertaining to heat, light, power and cost of facility while the original document submitted to the Financial Controller.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans. Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance and capital planning.
  • Lead hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts and ensure timely completion of projects within budget.
  • Maintain appropriate equipment operating logbook.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of spare part, tools and supplies.
  • Maintain purchasing record, equipment manuals etc.

People:
  • Follow directions thoroughly.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Live and demonstrate the Maya Hotels core values.
  • Train & supervise subordinates and assist training for all employees on safety & emergency.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve team member performance.
  • Educate and train all team members in compliance with national and local laws and safety regulations. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and team members in compliance with regulatory policies and procedures. Maintain relations with outside contacts including guests, regulatory agencies and others as needed.

Guest Experience:
  • Understand and respond to customer’s needs and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance program to ensure facility is maintained and in service for our guests
  • Maintenance and operate air condition, heater, ventilation and refrigeration system.
  • Ensure timely response to services request from the guests, employees, and management to repair or replace interior fixtures or furnishing.
  • Respond or perform duties of a groundskeeper.
  • Provide maintenance repairs to guestrooms, public areas and administrative offices.
  • Repairs may include plumbing, kitchen, mechanical, laundry, electrical, heating, cooling, ventilation, furnishings and fixtures, painting, wall cover repairs, light carpentry, door and window repairs
  • Maintain a working log of maintenance requests.
  • Follow up on all requests with the appropriate department and guests.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

Responsible Business:
  • Keep work area neat and tidy.
  • Uniform and personal appearance are kept clean and professional and are in accordance with Maya Hotels Grooming Policy. A smile is considered part of the uniform.
  • Comply with Maya Hotels policies, procedures and Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain and distribution system of electricity, water, gas, stream etc.
  • Monitors and coordinates the service performed by outside contractors in accordance to the contract, leases, service agreements and warranties.
  • Conduct continuous inspection on the building and ground to ensure the compliance with the relevant fire and safety laws.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Plan, implement and administer energy management program.
  • Assist GM with SOP’s.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain the MSDS log.
  • Maintain the Rooms Preventative Maintenance Program and consistently keep updated records on file.
  • Learn and adhere to all fire and emergency procedures, including procedures for handling of the fire panel, ensuring guest safety and participate in an evacuation if necessary.
  • Practice safe working habits, including bending and lifting appropriately to avoid injury, reporting hazards, appropriate se of cleaning chemicals and working to minimize tripping and falling hazards.
  • May be responsible for hotel security to minimize risk of theft, crime and other hazards.
  • Prioritize and organize.
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement.
  • Participate in helping the hotel recycle.
