JOB SUMMARY:
Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area is a before and after school youth development organization located in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. It serves youth ages 6 to 18 in partnership with the Wisconsin Rapids, Nekoosa, and Port Edwards schools as well as the South Wood County YMCA, with which it shares a state of the art facility that opened in 2020.
Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area is actively seeking a highly motivated, uniquely qualified and dynamic leader to serve as the Chief Executive Officer to provide leadership, direction and support to the Board of Directors in developing organizational goals, attaining and allocating resources, and establishing Club policies. The Chief Executive Officer will be involved in all aspects of the Club’s operations, reporting to and working closely with the local volunteer Board of Directors.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership
Provide leadership and direction to ensure the effective operation and delivery of programs within the Club and community:
- Support the organization’s mission and principles
- Ensure an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes
- Ensure programs, services and activities that support youth development outcomes
- Ensure establishment of and adherence to policies and procedures
Resource Development
- Ensure the annual budget is funded and organization has adequate cash flow.
- Oversee the development of financial development strategic plans and, as necessary, participate in cultivation and solicitation visits with development staff and board members.
- Ensure for the long-term planning of funding through planned giving, endowment
Resource Management
- Ensure development, implementation and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget in collaboration with financial management staff.
- Ensure all necessary administrative and operational systems are in place to support effective operations.
- Ensure productive and effective staff performance, managing the performance and training of management level professionals.
Safety
- Ensure the safety of Club members and staff including all aspects of facilities, vehicles, programs, insurance coverage, employee and volunteer background checks, annual training and safety reviews.
- Ensure that the Club meets all BGCA policies for best practices and standards as related to safety.
Marketing, Fundraising and Public Relations
- Increase visibility of Club programs, services and activities and maintain good public relations.
- Develop strategic fundraising plans for solicitation of new donors as well as cultivation and stewardship of donors
- Secure substantial philanthropic support of the organization through individual donor solicitation and work with local foundations.
- The CEO position includes an annual performance review process, including performance based incentives for quantitative fundraising success and other metrics.
Strategic Planning
- Ensure and oversee a strategic planning process is instituted that results in the development and implementation of a quality strategic plan.
- Ensure and oversee the identification and evaluation of opportunities for improvement and implements plans for improvements.
Partnership Development
- Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials.
- Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families, funders, and community organizations.
Board Development
- Support the Board of Directors to identify, recruit and develop effective board members.
- Oversee staff liaisons to Board committees to ensure they are provided with the information and support necessary to fulfill their objectives.
Technology
- Ensure the development and implementation of plans for updating existing technology and resources:
- Ensure the acquisition and allocation of funds for implementing and updating existing technology and resources
- Ensure the maintenance of Club technology and information management systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
May be assigned special projects periodically or other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Relationships:
Internal: Maintain contact with Board of Directors, Club staff, volunteers, and club members.
External: Maintain contact with potential and current donors, external community groups, parents, school officials, and others as required.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Demonstrates experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or Boys & Girls Club, with leadership capacity, or an equivalent combination of experience.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and coordinate operations.
- Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, delegation.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
- Basic knowledge of asset management including financial resources and property.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently. Facilities and workspace must meet standards as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
