This role has a direct reporting relationship to the EVP and Chief Financial Officer, BILH, and a dual reporting relationship to the Chief Executive Officer, BILH Primary Care (BILHPC). The BILHPC CFO is responsible for providing financial leadership to BILHPC, working closely with senior leaders of BILH to create a patient-focused, high performance and results-oriented organization that will support the mission, vision, values and business objectives of BILHPC. Position is also responsible for accounting and financial functions of BILHPC, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial analysis and reporting payroll, budgeting, financial planning, purchasing, contract management and data analytics.

BLIHPC consist of 400 providers, 1100 non-provider staff. The CFO manages a staff of approximately 50 support staff and a $290M budget.

Job Description:

  • Develops and maintains controls and procedures to adequately protect the assets of BILHPC while working collaboratively as part of a dynamic team whose objective is to optimize the bottom line.
  • Accurately records all financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and works to satisfy independent auditors in relation thereto.
  • Assess, prioritize and sets direction related to all current and future financial services of this high growth, entrepreneurial organization.
  • Leads the organization in the transformation of BILHPC’s financial and operational reporting systems to ensure that said systems will support current and future management needs. Identifies the key financial performance measures for BILHPC.
  • Responsible for issuing quarterly assessments of the performance toward the objectives with related recommendations.
  • Oversees the training and development of all BILHPC staff and customers on how to read and manage using financial reports.
  • Reports on a monthly basis to senior management, the Board of Directors and BILHPC staff regarding the financial results of BILHPC, including a Statement of Revenues and Expenses, cash flow and balance sheet with narrative explanations, as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with Information Services, develops and improves financial systems and processes to prepare for the future growth of BILHPC. Also responsible for developing and implementing financial/management reports useful to managers and physicians as decision support tools to enhance operations and improve profitability.
  • Participates in the development and successful execution of the strategic plan of BILHPC in close concert with members of the Senior Management Team.
  • Prepares the Annual Operating and Capital Budgets for BILHPC and presents to the Senior Leadership of BILHPC and BILH.
  • Works with independent auditors and other external customers, as required, to comply with accounting rules and state/federal law, as appropriate.
  • Active member of BILH Finance Team under the leadership of BILH CFO.
  • Works with the Senior Management Team on proposals and contracts to resolve pricing/costing and profitability issues.
  • Assists in the ongoing analysis of fiscal performance and works collaboratively to develop effective interventions to improve overall operational performance.
  • Fosters and promotes the concept of continuous quality improvement.
  • Responsible for the development of the Financial Services staff.
  • Formalizes annual budget process focused on tying volume, revenues and expenses together.
  • Supports provider recruitment initiatives, including approving of all provider compensation offers, determining the investments need to support each recruitment decision and interacting with provider candidates during the recruitment process, up to and including employment contract negotiations.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external customers.
  • Staff, develop, organize and carry out the mission of the department.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • Possesses a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior financial leadership role.

  • Directs a wide range of financial, budgetary and long-range planning/forecasting activities to ensure the highest level of financial stability and integrity. Responsible for identifying strengths and weaknesses of major teams. Collaborates with other senior professionals to create professional development practices.
  • Requires internal contacts outside the department/division to negotiate sensitive issues and facilitate collaboration on major projects. Responsible for establishing business procedures to ensure consistent, high quality internal customer service.
  • Serves as a principle representative of BILHPC, maintaining and developing relationships with key external contacts and the community at large.
