COVID vaccine will be required unless medical / religious exemption.Reporting administratively to the Chief Executive Officer and functionally to the Chief Medical Officer, the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) is a key member of BCHPs leadership team and serves as an operational liaison between physicians/clinicians and organizational leadership for all matters related to the clinical operation of BCHPs electronic health record (EHR).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, revising, implementing, and disseminating electronic health record related policies, procedures, training and education, and other materials. This work will be conducted with the assistance of BCHPs internal Information Services team.
  • Providing enterprise level leadership to establish and maintain open lines of communication within the organization to encourage optimized use of the EHR platform.
  • Serving as a clinical / technical liaison between the Information Services department and clinical departments, allowing for technology to improve internal (colleagues) and external (patient and family) experience.
  • Assuring timely and reliable communication of key matters to BCHP leadership and lead physicians.
  • Developing and chairing various committees with stated goals of improving clinical documentation and optimizing provider workflow.
  • Working closely with the Chief Medical Officer to develop and implement strategies for improving quality of patient care and associated documentation.
  • Assisting the CMO and Quality Department in supporting the organization in meeting various quality metrics and improving performance in incentive programs
  • Recognizing that EHR stress and documentation burden are key drivers of provider burn out, work with the Chief Medical Officer and the provider wellness team to develop plans and implement strategies to reduce burnout and improve provider wellness.
  • Further BCHPs goals of research and academic service by working with CMO and other physicians to develop reports that support research projects and Quality Improvement projects
  • Participating as a member of BCHPs Quality and Patient Safety Oversight Committee and Corporate Compliance Committee.
  • Providing advocacy and clinical perspective in support of the patient centered mission, vision, values, and strategies.
  • Providing oneon-one support and additional training for providers, where necessary.
  • Working collaboratively with the COO / Chief Compliance Officer to ensure EHR use is consistent with all applicable regulatory requirements. Assisting the COO in responding to all EHRrelated audits by governmental authorities.
  • With the assistance of the Information Services Department, gathering information and submitting data to various governmental agencies.
  • Implementing and monitoring plans of correction to confirm problems have been resolved.
  • Maintaining professional affiliations and seeking personal development to remain current with industry trends and changes.
  • Accepting new responsibilities and projects as assigned.
  • Maintaining the highest moral and ethical standards, as well as strict confidentiality.
  • Performing other duties as may be requested.

JOB SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited college of medicine or osteopathy with a completed approved internship.
  • Degree or certificate in Health Informatics desired, but not required
  • Ten (10) years clinical practice experience after residency, preferably in a pediatric private practice and academic setting.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a leadership role with increasing responsibilities.
  • Extensive working knowledge of electronic health record systems, preferably Nextgen. Experience in design, development, and reporting highly desired. Comfortable with clinical metrics/analytics and compliance.
  • Ability to demonstrate diplomacy and the ability to influence decisions with all efforts maintaining a patient centric focus.
  • Excellent PC experience with Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of multi-specialty medical office operations and EHR processes, preferably with an emphasis on pediatrics.
  • Ability to maintain a supportive leadership culture and an ability to bridge institutional silos to achieve results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills - ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff; political and human resource skills to effectively manage change.
  • Detail oriented and able to problem solve and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to apply project management skills to meet goals and objectives.
  • Ability to hold team members accountable for meeting stated goals.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple office locations in the tri-state area.
  • Technical experience with a strong understanding of the complexities of technology and the ability to relay/simplify for colleagues into laymans terms
