Position Summary
The Chief Operating Officer is a high-visibility strategic partner and thought leader that leads the coordination and strategic alignment of all functions within Operations. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for streamlining high-importance projects and conducting leadership level internal and external initiatives that have a very significant impact on the company’s business objectives. The Chief Operating Officer plans and directs all operational activities for the CEO. The Chief Operating Officer acts as a point of contact for all Operations and Business Development personnel. Additionally, the Chief Operating Office with serve as an advisor to the CEO on all Operations matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Supervising all daily operations of the company, including IT, marketing and sales
  • Preparing and presenting reports to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer on all matters related to the business
  • Provide leadership, thought partnership and tactical support to the People, Organizational Effectiveness and Finance teams ensuring that all organizational systems, policies and practices reflect core values
  • Performing employee reviews and developing corrective action plans if needed
  • Developing and implementing strategies, procedures and business plans needed to enhance company growth
  • Working with the executive team to set comprehensive goals for performance and growth
  • Cultivating and providing opportunities for rising talent within the organization
  • Partner with the Business Development team to ensure smooth workflow with Operations and Clients
  • Manage logistics services
  • Manage relationships with partners/vendors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or another relevant field
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) strongly preferred
  • 15+ years of professional experience with at least 7 years of senior management experience in a high-performing organization; logistics industry strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of staff management, industry specifics and business strategies
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Superior management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations
