The Chief People Officer is a strategic leader responsible for reimagining San Francisco Health Plan’s people function, culture, workplace strategies, and policies/processes. The CPO will play a key role in developing and implementing best practices and strategies that advance the health plan’s efforts to be a high-performance organization that is fueled by a skilled, engaged, and diverse workforce and inclusive culture. The CPO will serve as a thought partner to the CEO and will work in close partnership with the executive team, HR team, and staff across the organization. This position drives a comprehensive set of strategies to attract, retain, and motivate top talent throughout the organization; integrate new technologies that advance the mission; and promote and continue to enhance a strong culture of collaboration and cooperation.

The CPO must be strategic, collaborative, and consensus driven. The CPO must have exceptional leadership and change management skills as well as strong business acumen. The CPO will serve as the right-hand person to the CEO as she continues to build up the health plan. The drive, energy, and excitement needed to transform HR and ensure the right infrastructure is in place to support a growing organization will be critical to this role. The CPO must be forward thinking, risk embracing, and adaptive. The CPO will act as a trusted advisor and must instill a high level of confidence in HR throughout the health plan. The CPO will play a key role in championing the organization’s deep commitment to DEI and will instill a culture of accountability, collaboration, and inclusivity across the organization.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develops and implements a human resources plan that aligns with the overall mission and strategy of the organization, resulting in innovative best practices and policies that will service the full range of the health plan’s HR needs and help build a high-performing culture of success, accountability, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Supervises all people programs including the assessment, design, and implementation of policies; implements Human Resource solutions and supports programs to address identified organizational needs, gaps, and weaknesses.
  • Develops and implements best in class human capital leadership and effective practices for recruiting, training, development, and performance management practices with a focus on Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.
  • Serves as a key trusted advisor in providing collaborative partnerships with the operation and business functional leaders in order to understand business needs and strategic approaches to ensure alignment with Human Resource strategy.
  • Works directly with Chief Executive Officer and leadership teams to lead, manage, influence, and shape organizational change; ensures appropriate Human Resource information is provided to leaders which will support the successful alignment of Human Resource operations, programs, and services across the system.
  • Determines appropriate measures/metrics needed to provide on-going assessment of change management and process/performance improvement in determining effectiveness on overall business impact.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field. Master’s degree in HR, Organizational Development, or Business Administration preferred.
  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility, serving at the senior leadership level.
  • Success leading progressive and modern HR and people strategies in a complex organization.
  • PHR/SPHR and/or CCP/CBP Human Resource designation preferred.
  • Experience in building a strong, highly skilled, and engaged workforce.
  • Strong general business acumen with the ability to develop and utilize people data and metrics as they relate to and impact business topics.
  • Track record of developing innovative and forward-thinking talent strategies and initiatives and successfully scaling a compelling company culture.
  • Demonstrated capability in adapting and innovating People practices and solutions and right-sizing them to the needs of an expanding organization.
