The University of California Irvine (UCI), Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible child abuse pediatrician to join the Division of General Pediatrics, Subdivision of Child Abuse Pediatrics and to work in a multidisciplinary environment located in Orange County, California.

The Division of General Pediatrics includes the Subdivision of Child Abuse Pediatrics that currently consists of two child abuse pediatricians and clinic staff. The clinic sees patients at the UCI-CAST (Child Abuse Services Team) Medical Unit located within Orange County’s CAC in the city of Orange. The child abuse pediatricians at UCI also provide inpatient and phone consultations for suspected child abuse and neglect for Orange County’s Social Services Agency, at UC Irvine Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), and Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Long Beach. If interested, there may be general pediatric opportunities available within the department as well.

Candidates must be board-certified/board-eligible in child abuse pediatrics with experience in all aspects of child maltreatment and neglect, including physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and medical child abuse. We are seeking a qualified candidate with a strong commitment to patient care, education, research, and community engagement. The faculty member will provide direct patient care, be involved in teaching medical students, residents and CAP fellows, and participate in community outreach. The faculty will be a part of a multidisciplinary team that serves as a resource for the region, including consultation and education on child maltreatment.

Our clinical practice is located in Orange County, California, which is known for its 42 miles of coastline with such spectacular vistas that many proclaim it the 'California Riviera'. Boasting one of the best climates in the world, with sunshine 342 days per year and an average annual temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, Orange County is known for some of the most diverse landscape imaginable and just an hour’s drive from both desert and mountains. Orange County also boasts of such world class attractions as Disneyland and Disney California Adventures, Knott’s Berry Farm, Mission San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Beach Pageant of the Masters, and some of the best shopping and dining in all Southern California.
