What to expect:
The Child Protection Social Worker is responsible for planning, providing, arranging, and monitoring direct client services under direct supervision. Other duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing information, outreach, and assistance to consumers and the public at large; collecting information, determining service eligibility and need, and accepting referrals for services as assigned
  • Maintaining familiarity with and informing persons served of their rights and responsibilities and assuring that rights are protected in the course of services delivered
  • Demonstrating engagement and responsiveness with consumers and their support teams; assessing current functioning and priorities, and determining the type, times, and range of services or supports required
  • Developing comprehensive, outcome focused service plans in response to needs and secures, arranging, or appropriates the resources necessary to meet them
  • Providing, coordinating, regularly monitoring, and/or adjusting services as planned, assuring their ongoing focus, effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Maintaining case records, including timely and accurate documentation of activity, progress toward goals, and changes in consumer status or plans
  • Analyzing the need for court orders or intervention, preparing court reports, assisting with court appearances, and providing testimony as may be required
  • Maintaining awareness of and compliance with applicable rules, policies, procedures, funding source requirements, professional standards, and evidence-based practices as may apply
  • Participating in unit and department-wide meetings, discussions, training, and activities, demonstrating orientation toward professional competence and continuous quality improvement; making recommendations for and assisting with service improvement when warranted

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
Child and Family Services: Social worker certification or the ability to receive certification within the first six months of employment preferred. The successful candidate will also meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a closely related field required
  • Relevant prior experience with the population(s) to be served preferred and knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed principles and practices is preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal laws, State statutes, administrative rules and understanding of the programs, funds and services available
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, superiors, community partners, and the public at large as well as to relate to people communicate effectively in both written and oral formats
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment in confrontational and stressful situations, and follow instructions, to complete tasks, and to work closely with the supervisor and others
  • Must have unlimited access to a car, a valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and the ability to efficiently travel in and out of county, as needed
