Alternatives Counseling is growing with the community and we are in need of an additional therapist to help serve our population of children and adolescents. We are looking for a qualified child therapist to provide clinical and professional mental health support through assessment, diagnosing, and treating children who may be suffering from slight or severe mental, emotional, or social disorders. Applicants must have trauma-informed specialty or have significant interest in clinical training for carrying out of therapeutic expectations for a wide-range clientele population.

Alternatives Counseling is a private agency where individuals can come together and heal through individual talk-therapy, group sessions, and ongoing trainings and workshops to help strengthen knowledge about mental health awareness. Applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays and some evening sessions required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a variety of specialized treatment modalities to best support adolescent populations services
• Maintain clinical professionalism within practice with clientele and interactions with staff team members
• Keep documentation and maintain clients files with up-to-date reporting and tracking
• Design and develop person-centered assessment and treatment plans
• Assessments for suicidal ideation and creation of safety planning as needed
• Educate family members on interventions they can do for their child
• Coordinate with other child health experts, like child protection workers, pediatricians, and social workers to facilitate and ensure psychological development of a child
• Willingness to engage in ongoing training as needed for furthering specializations

Skills

• Master's Level degree, or higher, in Psychology or Counseling field at minimum required and qualified (or working towards) LPC licensure at minimum *Pay scale is based on experience, education, and licensure.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate with children of different ages and from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
• Problem-solving skills to ensure appropriate creation and delivery of recommended, effective, and appropriate treatment planning
• Adequate knowledge and skill set to match interventions to client’s developmental level
• Willingness to attend seminars and meetings about topics relevant to child psychology
• Knowledge of different therapeutic methods and ability to switch between different treatment strategies to meet each child's needs
• Adherence to professional, legal and ethical regulations, as required by relevant regulatory bodies and the law
• Patience and understanding when dealing with children's emotional issues
• Ability to motivate, encourage and portray an optimistic attitude
