Summary of the main function/purpose of the position:
Provides supportive services to child shelter residents and their families. This includes service management, activities, supervision of children, group services, and safety planning.
Principal duties/responsibilities:
- Completes all paperwork, including youth assessments, and age appropriate safety plans in a timely manner and in accordance with FCADV standards.
- Provides safety planning, supportive counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, and referrals to other agencies as needed.
- Organizes, supervises, and participates in educational and recreational experience for children on a daily basis that are age appropriate and interactive/hands on.
- Encourage growth in children through communication and play.
- Supervision which includes participation with children during activities on-site and out in the community.
- Coordinates and supervises the summer youth program.
- Organizes, supervises, transports, and participates in field trips.
- Reports maintenance concerns and monitors the overall safety of shelter.
- Provides assistance with transportation as needed.
- Facilitates groups for children.
- Maintains the daily nutrition and food count of participants 20 years of age and younger.
- Maintains all statistical reports as required by funders and turns them in on a timely basis.
- Maintains required documentation and WS data in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintains the participant "Master List" in an accurate and timely manner.
- Attends all staff meetings and monthly individual supervision as required.

Occasional duties or projects which may be performed at irregular intervals:- -
- Updates and modifies the basic curriculum and resources used in the children's program as approved by the supervisor.
- Provides referrals to participants, community resources and other organizations, as needed.
- Assists public school staff as needed with children's violence prevention and intervention questions and information.
- Maintains an accurate count of children up to 20 years of age for the Food and Nutrition Program.
- Provides transportation in agency vehicle to appointments, recreational activities, and to other services as needed.
- Facilitate parenting class (weekly) when needed.
- Facilitates off-site training and presentations, as needed.
- Attends meetings in the community, as assigned.
- Provides recreational activities with participants within the shelter setting.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Attend trainings pertinent to the profession.III. Accountability:Records: Accountable for ensuring records and documentation are accurate and current. IV. Supervision Responsibility: V. Business-Related Contacts: External Contacts: Community organizations, social service agencies, healthcare providers, schools, churches, and other shelters that offer assistance to Spring families.Bachelor's degree in behavioral science preferred or two years of related social service experience. Specialized or technical educational requirements:16 hours of training each year there after regarding the dynamics of domestic violence and intervention. -Valid Florida driver's license, active vehicle insurance, and acceptable MVR required. The environment is typically that of a classroom setting with moderate to loud noise. There is occasional exposure to the outdoors when assisting with outdoor activities or field trips.- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. - The position requires verbal communication on an individual and group basis, supervising groups of children at The Spring and on field trip outings. The position requires walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and using hands occasionally. Stooping and crouching are sometimes required (to play with children and to sit on the floor with the group). Talking and hearing is required most of the time. The employee must often lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (lifting children). Special vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
