The LaGrange Daily News, in LaGrange, Georgia and The Valley Times-News, in Lanett, Alabama are hiring a circulation manager to lead efforts to get our products into the hands of readers.
The newspapers, while in different states, are only 20 minutes apart.
The successful candidate will oversee the distribution of our daily newspapers, stock newspaper racks and store locations, oversee contract carriers, collect payments and be a problem solver for subscription issues. The circulation manager will also need to be creative in this ever-changing market to help the newspapers adapt to where readers want to get their news. This position will include two overnight, approximately 4 hour round-trips to Alexander City, Alabama each week to collect newspapers on Tuesday and Friday nights (finishing the route on Wednesday and Saturday morning).
The remainder of the 40-hour week will be spent dealing with circulation-type issues.
Qualifications:
· Experience in circulation management, with work in newspapers seen as a big plus.
· Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and email
· Must be dependable, reliable as this person’s actions will ultimately determine whether newspapers are delivered on time.
· Be able to work under pressure during peak times
· Must be able to display good judgment, attention to detail, be methodical, and have flexibility
· Must be able to showcase patience in assisting customers
· Must have reliable transportation and current driver’s license
· Be comfortable driving a box truck
