Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) is a full-service engineering and consulting firm seeking a site development engineer to work directly with others to formulate engineering design of multi-faceted projects. Projects associated with this position vary but are all civil-related, including but not limited to commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial site development with associated roadway improvements and assisting clients with project development.

As a site development engineer with CMT, the successful candidate will assist on a wide variety of engineering projects working closely with other engineers, architects, and project managers in planning, design, construction, coordination, and execution of complex projects while maintaining conformance with engineering standards, established practices, and applicable codes. Responsibilities will include performing duties such as master planning, terrain modeling and earthwork analysis, site utility conveyance and permitting, hydrologic & hydraulic analysis and design, stormwater detention and water quality design, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), pavement marking and signing plans, traffic signal and lighting design, as well as complete preparation of construction drawings and technical specifications for roadway and site development projects. This individual must have the ability to work in a team environment involving multiple engineering disciplines and assist client management and operations. This role will require strong organizational & communication skills as work tasks vary and may include design, report writing, field investigations, cost estimating, construction observation, attendance at client meetings, and overnight travel to project sites.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering practice
  • Fundamentals of Engineering Certification
  • Strong technical skills to include experience with Microsoft Office products with exposure to computer-aided drafting software, such as AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple competing deadlines
  • Ability to accept periodic out of town travel assignments and work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work in the field as needed
  • Valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record

Preferred qualifications:

  • A Professional Engineer’s License
  • Previous experience in site development and drainage
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D and various hydraulic modeling software such as Storm and Sanitary Analysis or Pond Pack.
