Overview:

Western National is in search of a Claims Business Analyst III who is looking to join a team where they can make a difference. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Claims Team where you will implement business solutions that optimize the claims business process.


In this role, you will be an essential member of our team focused on supporting and enhancing our claims system by working with end users, technology business partners, and third-party vendors. You will use your prior business analysis and insurance experience to facilitate, translate, and document business requirements that align with our company objectives.

The full hiring range for this role is: $84,000-$127,000 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates outside of the range listed above are encouraged to apply and will be considered based upon their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
Responsibilities:
  • Engages business partners to elicit and define business needs and objectives involving the Claims system.
  • Plans and facilitates requirement sessions with various stakeholders including software developers, quality assurance team members, subject matter experts, and end users.
  • Crafts user functional requirements into well-defined documentation, including use cases and user stories.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to consult, support, and implement business solutions.
  • Initiates and manages ongoing communication with third-party vendors serving as primary liaison and subject matter expert as it relates to the claims system.
  • Defines and validates the business logic and functional requirements for third-party vendor integration.
  • Guides business initiative development to ensure solutions are designed in accordance with business needs and technical specifications.
  • Works with Product Owner, ScrumMaster, and other team members to plan roadmaps, releases, sprints, and to manage product backlogs in an Agile environment.
  • Actively participates in Agile ceremonies, including product roadmap planning, sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand ups, and retrospectives.
  • Provides ongoing claims system support including triaging, researching, and resolution of issues as needed.
  • Facilitates demos of system features to stakeholders including business partners, technical teams, and end users.
Qualifications:
  • 2 years as a Senior Business Analyst with at least 5 years of progressive business analyst experience defining and documenting requirements and supporting business/technology applications and/or systems.
  • Previous property-and-casualty insurance experience with a focus on claims is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to think critically and communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders (internal and external), technology teams, and multiple business teams.
  • Advanced experience interviewing business sponsors and stakeholders to elicit and document requirements as stories for functional technical specifications.
  • Experience leading and partnering with multiple small teams across product/ business capabilities, with demonstrated experience identifying and managing dependencies within and across teams.
  • Experience recommending solutions to business problems and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to read and understand SQL, XML, API, and possess FTP knowledge.
  • Must possess strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to handle multiple initiatives while managing conflicting priorities.
  • Previous experience with Confluence and JIRA preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
