Position Title: Picard Center: CLASS Content Specialist

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CLASS Content Specialist will work under the direction of the CLASS Project Director to perform daily administrative tasks and oversee the quality assurance measures of the project. Qualified candidates must have training with the Classsroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) observation tool (preK, toddler, and/or infant) including observation experience with teaching and/or professional development training. Candidates should demonstrate solid organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. In addition, candidates should be self-motivated, develop novel concepts/ideas for training and professional development opportunities for Picard CLASS team, and work with the Early Childhood team.

  • Assist with daily phone calls including CLASS observers, observation sites, and Lead Agency representatives.
  • Monitor and check the main project email account throughout the day (make schedule changes, send observation orders, correspond with observers and/or sites).
  • Develop training modules or presentations to enhance observer understanding of the CLASS tool(s) including coding, note-taking, and documentation.
  • Work one-on-one or in groups with Picard observers to improve their areas of weakness (e.g., note-taking, coding, summary statements).
  • Send daily reliability to observers.
  • Use the monthly observer trends to guide and plan for training/assistance to individual observers.
  • Oversee the bi-annual calibration exercises of CLASS observers.
  • Send and review data checks.
  • Review observer notes, booklets, and summary statements for accuracy, completeness.
  • Develop an on-going training plan for CLASS observers
  • Attend all LDOE/Picard Center staff meetings.
  • Provide support to the Project Director and Early Childhood team.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of the annual orientation and observation trainings.
  • Maintain CLASS certification and train in all three age types: infant, toddler, and prek (if not trained in all three).
  • Update Master File with site level changes, observation changes/updates.
  • Review the accuracy of data entered in the LDE’s Early Childhood Portal and cross-check with observation booklets.
  • Assist EC team in running and reviewing observer calendars and tickets for scheduled observations.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of five years’ experience in early childhood education or elementary education.
  • Exceptional professional communication and organizational skills
  • Experience working in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Coordinating and executing the daily activities of a large-scale project
  • Skilled proofreader of technical documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Familiarity with mail merge programs for bulk mailing/emailing
  • Experience creating and using spreadsheets for human resource, tracking observer trends/performance, and project timelines
  • Basic understanding of descriptive statistics (scores comparisons by mean, for example)
