About Mid Michigan Community Action Agency

MMCAA is a nonprofit community action agency whose mission is to guide local residents on the path to self-sufficiency through empowerment, education and community enrichment. The early childhood services department provides comprehensive Early Head Start home based services, Head Start and GSRP preschool services as well as WIC services.

What you will do

Head Start classroom aides are an important part of the teaching team providing comprehensive services to children and families. The responsibilities of the Classroom Aide include:

· Supporting the needs of the children.

· Assist in transportation of the children.

· Mealtime attendance

· Actively engage young children in exploring and learning

• Assist in ensuring a safe learning environment
• Ability to engage families to participate in family fun nights, parent meetings and volunteering.
• Willingness to be part of an effective teaching team, cooperative, collaborative and supportive.

What we will love about you

· 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma/GED, and have experience working with young children.

• Family Service Credential within 18 months of hire or the first session offered thereafter.
• Complete 16 hours of annual training in addition to CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen training.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively.
• Initiative, flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cooperatively as a team leader and a team member.
• Proficient computer skills. (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet)
• Successfully complete required background checks at time of hire and when requested.
• Good communication and organizational skills and be able to work effectively with people.
• Self-directed and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in order to deliver desired outcomes within allocated time frames.
• Willing to accept new challenges.
