Salary: $58,704.00 - $78,900.00 Annually

As the state moves toward 100% clean energy the department is working to expand its clean energy leasing program to capture additional value for our beneficiaries AND to provide clean, renewable energy on our lands. The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, motivated, creative, and have a successful track record of solving complex operational and policy issues in the area of clean energy. Assisting in contracting, negotiations, analytical thinking, and project management will be areas of expertise. A background in energy and/or natural resources is preferred. As the statewide clean energy lease manager, you will assist the Clean Energy Program Manager in providing strategic guidance to agency leadership, including the Product Sales & Leasing Division Manager and Deputy for State Uplands. Duties

Responsibilities:

  • Advancing 21st century wind and solar energy projects to generate revenue for schools and counties, and help Washington transition to a clean energy future.
  • Promoting innovation around trust management opportunities in order to increase agency’s revenue generation.
  • Managing a program that generates over $3 million in annual revenue for our trust beneficiaries.
  • Leading a team to directly negotiate multi-million dollar clean energy leases.
  • Work with diverse and competing interest groups to develop solutions and resolve conflicts surrounding high-profile projects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of Experience with any combination of the following for clean energy projects (Relevant education may substitute year for year for up to 4 years of experience);
    • Ground Lease negotiation or management
    • Project Management
    • Site selection and procurement
    • State Permitting
    • Utility Interconnection
    • Business and financial analysis

Working Conditions:
  • Work setting: DNR Offices and Field Visits. Up to 20% travel/ Up to 1 week at a time. Telework may be approved by the appointing authority.
  • A valid driver’s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with GIS or other special mapping tools.
  • Experience with public lands.
  • Real property leases or similar contracts.
  • Experience working with Tribes, stakeholders, and the public in a public service perspective.
  • Associate degree in business management, or project management
