Job description
The Clinical Pharmacist will support in the clinical aspects of the business by working directly with patients, medical professionals, plan sponsors and the other members of the MedOne team under the direction of the Vice President of Clinical Services
Position Description:
- Complete clinical assessments and determine appropriateness of medication therapy as part of the clinical review/prior authorization process
- Support in the creation of drug formularies and development of clinical authorization criteria
- Perform duties of drug utilization review including concurrent, retrospective, and prospective components
- Support Member Advocate and Account Management teams with patient and/or provider requests requiring pharmacist intervention
- Support in the creation and presentation of clinical and claims information at client meetings
- Interface with providers, pharmacies, and manufacturers on behalf of patients and clients
- Support in the operation and maintenance of existing MedOne Clinical Programs
- Contribute to the development of new clinical programs
- If Dubuque based, assist in daily operations of the mail-order pharmacy, which will include scheduling, processing, filling, product verification, and packaging/shipping of prescriptions
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or PharmD with current unrestricted licensure as a RPh in the State of Iowa or the ability to gain reciprocity within 4 months of employment.
- Proficient in drug literature and clinical trial evaluation
- Ability to translate clinical information into a manner appropriate for both clinical and non-clinical audiences
- High degree of emphasis on problem-solving skills, including identifying and accepting a challenging situation and creating and implementing a solution
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on attention to detail
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- Ability to work with a team
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Knowledge of the PBM industry, formulary management, pharmacy claims and managed care principles and practices is highly preferred
- Residency experience is highly preferred
Work Hours:
- Full-time, salaried position, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Must be able to travel
- Corporate Office – Dubuque or Remote
