Responsibilities

In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, the Clinical Tech supports and promotes the provision of quality patient care. Actively participates as a team member in the systems, functions and activities of the unit/department. appearance and sanitary condition of all campuses and participates in quality control and staff development.

  • Demonstrates competency in performing crutch fitting based on size. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Demonstrates successful application of arm sling for both adult and pediatric patients. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Demonstrates competency in therapeutically bandaging arms, legs with ace bandages. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Demonstrates competency in performance, ordering and documentation of EKG's. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Demonstrates competency in the procedure of phlebotomy according to hospital standards. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.

  • Order lab work, respiratory orders, and EKG's via patient care system appropriately and successfully. Measurement: Documentation, Minimal errors, Accuracy, Timeliness.

  • Performs daily stock room supply check to ensure adequate stock for patient care. Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Inventory.
  • Partners with nursing, medical and respiratory staff to assist in the performance of patient procedures (i.e. gastric lavage, stabilizing extremities for suturing, etc.). Measurement: Observation, Feedback, Patient care.
  • Make frequent rounds to ensure adequate patient communication and comfort. Measurement: Observation, Feedback.
  • Greets patient on arrival, documents patient name on Nursing Assignment log sheet. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.

  • Advise triage nurse of patient's arrival if patient in emergent category. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Assists patient into wheelchair if indicated. Measurement: Observation.

  • Demonstrates competency in providing basic first aid and applying ice bags as indicated. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.

  • Demonstrates competency in maintaining confidentiality according to hospital standards. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Demonstrates ability to serve as communication advocate for patients and families. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Provides guests with hospital resource phone numbers and directions. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.
  • Assists with traffic control for patients and families entering Emergency Department. Measurement: Observation, Accuracy.

  • Alerts housekeeping if waiting room needs cleaning. Measurement: Observation, Feedback.

  • Demonstrates ability to recognize potentially dangerous or violent situations and alerts security if indicated. Measurement: Observation, Feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned. Measurement: Observation, Feedback.


This position is represented by SEIU UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Six (6) months recent hospital experience as a CNA, CT or EMT required.
  • Successful completion of Clinical Technician Program or related work experience preferred.
  • AHA BLS / CPR certification.
  • Phlebotomy certificate required
Special Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to operate common office equipment including computers. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures.
