Job Description:

• The Cloud Operations Monitoring Engineer is responsible for the integration of our alerting and notifications from AWS Cloud Watch, New Relic, Gitlab and customer applications into OpsGenie.
• The Cloud Operations Monitoring Engineer is also responsible for administering our GitLab, New Relic and OpsGenie instances.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Integrate and tune various AWS alerts into our alerting systems
• Create effective logging, monitoring and application observability utilizing AWS cloud native tools, and third-party solutions
• Analyze and integrate alerting from internally built software into a centralized alerting system
• Configure and tune New Relic alerts and system configurations
• Manage the enterprise’s Gitlab instance
• Plan for adequate capacity of systems based on utilization metrics and planned projects to establish supply and demand forecasts
• Build reports and alerts for relevant development teams
• Perform compliance audits and reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 2-3 years' experience working with at least 2-3 of the applications below:
• Atlassian OpsGenie
• AWS Cloud Watch
• AWS Systems Manager OpsCenter
• AWS Detective
• New Relic – preferred
• Gitlab
• Proficiency in working on Linux systems required
• Advanced mastery of a scripting language (Python, Java Script, etc.)
• 1-2 years' experience working in an AWS environment
• Solid understanding of CloudWatch, EC2, S3, IAM, AWS Systems Manager, Event Bridge, AWS Cloud Formation Templates (CFT) and Lambda services, AWS Trusted Advisor, Compute Optimizer
• Ability to establish best practices for monitoring and forecasting system/application capacity
• Demonstrated experience supporting and monitoring highly available, production web applications
• Experience with configuring and setting up CloudWatch alarms and metrics for process monitoring, log monitoring, pattern matching
• Experience managing Gitlab preferred
