Summary

Promotes the Ministry, Mission and Core Values of the Arlington of Naples and Lutheran Life Communities by demonstrating professional and ethical work practices while fostering excellence in hospitality and customer service. Provides a wide variety of direct care and indirect services to residents.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Completes accurate data collection of resident weight and vital signs including BP, Pulse, Respirations, Oral, Rectal or Ear temperature. Demonstrates accurate use of a simple pain scale with residents.
• Reports changes in condition of skin, nutrition status, mobility and mental and physical function to nurse within appropriate time frame.
• Assists and promotes independence with personal care services, assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, oral care and other ADL's as required. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of personal assistance devices and there application. Uses proper techniques for resident escort and transfer.
• Demonstrates ability to accurately document resident care information, incidents, and other important resident information and keeps other members of the team informed. Documentation is timely, correct, legible and according to assignment. Demonstrates ability to consistently document resident care in electronic documentation and according to facility policy.
• Able to identify signs and symptoms of illness. Demonstrates basic knowledge of medications and effects. Reports information in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
• Develops a positive relationship with residents by respecting their rights, tolerating their differences, and providing consistent and equitable treatment. Uses effective communication skills with residents, family and other service providers.
• Assists in serving meals including clean up. Prepares food with residents as part of life enrichment activities. Practices safe food handling as trained. Offers snacks, and encourages adequate nutrition and hydration for residents.
• In conjunction with Lifestyle Coordinator, participates, coordinates and implements appropriate daily life enrichment activities according to resident needs.
• Understands and is knowledgeable about safety practices, procedures and maintenance. Follows proper infection control policies and procedures. Maintains a clean and safe environment.

Education/Experience/Skills

• Current Florida CNA certification required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Ability to speak, read and write English.
• Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
• Must be able to complete CNA documentation & training with clear understanding of English, Read, Write, for completion of training programs.
• Must be able to verbally communicate information in English to customers and other employees.
• Experience working with the elderly preferred.
• Possesses excellent customer relations skills.
