Position: CNC Operator (Prior CNC Experience Preferred)

• 1st Shift 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM ($18.04/hr)
• 2nd Shift 2:30 PM - 1:00 AM ($18.04 + $.75 shift deferential/hr)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the department supervisor, responsible for operation, job changeovers, adjustments, and troubleshooting to product results within tight tolerances. Operate machines in a productive and safe manner to produce parts that meet quality requirements at the lowest cost in a timely manner while minimizing waste of materials and resources.

Essential Functions:

• Operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
• Must be capable of working with a variety of tools which may include hand tools, cutting tools, measuring tools and machine tools.
• Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
• Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures work piece in fixture according to setup instructions.
• Detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as necessary.
• Must maintain standards of safety in the work environment including wearing any necessary PPE.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must be able to perform essential functions of job.
• Must be able to lift up to 70lbs.
• Ability to read and understand CNC program, blueprints and operational layouts as required.
• Basic knowledge of machining fundamentals and basic operating skills, shop arithmetic, and measuring procedures.
• Previous experience required in a fabrication manufacturing environment
• Mechanical ability, experience and knowledge of setting up CNC machines  Experience and ability with measuring tools, calipers, micrometers.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering diagrams.
• Ability to stand for long hours in sometimes cramped conditions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Requirements:

• Mazak and Haas machine experience.
• Knowledge of 4 and 5 axis equipment; Master Cam software knowledge.
• Completion of a Machine Tool Technology degree program or a Technical School Certificate in Machining, or an equivalent number of years of machining experience is preferred

• Duties are performed in a loud and uncontrolled environment (warehouse setting) subject to extreme temperatures.
