CNC Machinist Apprentice

GENERAL SUMMARY

Ross Precision Manufacturing, a contract manufacturer serving the aerospace, power generation, and high alloy melting industries, is looking for an entry-level machinist apprentice to join their growing team.

This position offers on-the-job training and tuition reimbursement for enrollment in an eligible educational program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic work-pieces by performing the following duties.

· Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.

· Positions and secures work-piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures, per machine set-up documentation.

· Moves controls to position tool and work-piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut.

· Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work-piece to specifications.

· Operates bench grinder to sharpen tools.

· Sets up and operates machines and equipment other than machine tools such as saws, welding machines and flame-cutting equipment.

· Able to operate hand tools (grinders, chisels, saws), crane, fork truck, and hand cart.

· Proactively contributes to company's overall mission and quality policy through teamwork, communication and organizational processes.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs machine bench work: (i.e. assembly, general machine maintenance, grinding/polishing, etc.)

Performs other related duties as requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

· Ability to come to work on a regular basis and on time. Ability to follow and maintain written procedures, work instructions, and safety regulations. Complete associated paperwork and documentation requirements related to various job assignments in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to work to deadlines, with supervision, under stress and with fellow workers.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Conventional and CNC controlled turning, milling, saw grinding machine centers.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
