GE Appliances is looking for a CNC Machinist/ Technician to join our FirstBuild team! At FirstBuild, our goal is to develop and co-create new products with a community and make them into scalable goods. This position supports the product development team with building product prototypes and finished products, using our machine shop tools like HAAS CNC mills, CNC lathes and other machinery. You will serve as the Technician responsible for the operation, maintenance, and servicing of prototype machinery.Still curious if this is the right role for you? USA, Louisville, KYHow You'll Create Possibilities
- Read and interpret sketches, drawings, and 3D models
- Produce sketches and drawings of ideas and concepts
- Construct prototype models from wood, plastic, metal, and glass using hand tools
- Fabricate parts to specification prints using various machine tools and fabrication equipment
- Assemble components into assemblies, verifying fit and function
- Fabricate fixtures, tables, and assemblies as required to support build activity
- Managing rapid prototyping machinery
- Maintain safe and orderly workshop
- Work directly with the product development and production team members to find creative solutions to fabrication needs.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or technical degree
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- 4-5 years of experience using CAD / CAM software & CNC machining (HAAS Lathe, Mill, multi-axis)
- Fusion 360, Solidworks, Onshape or other CAD system proficiency
- Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license
- Willing to operate in a team environment
- General computer knowledge of Microsoft programs
- Self-starter/Self-directed
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and proven creativity
- Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Comfortable participating in social media and video production activities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in a technical or related field of study
- Industrial maintenance proficiency and/or background
- Woodworking, metal working and general fabrication skills
- Rapid prototyping knowledge, including use of water jet, laser cutter, CNC machining, press brake
- ShopBot experience
- Industry Certification (Welding, machinist, Carpentry, Electronics, Sheet Metal)
- Comfortable in a collaborative environment that is also open to the community
