    License and Certification Qualifications: Meets Georgia certification requirements in appropriate field of study or eligibility for Support Personnel License based on work experience.


    Education Qualifications: Master's degree in related field required.

    Experience Qualifications:
    Previous counseling experience preferred. Background in a school setting preferred.


    Skills Qualifications: Strong interpersonal skills, management, and leadership; ability to work with individuals, small groups, classroom groups, and collaboratively with stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively; demonstrated skills in oral and written communication; demonstrated skills in organization and problem solving; ability to analyze existing processes and identify areas for improvement; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

    Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for developing comprehensive college and career readiness programs to help students plan for success after high school graduation. May be assigned to a cluster, district-wide or school specific location.

    1. Establish and/or manage the College and Career Center at the local high school to support post-secondary planning maintaining an inclusive and welcoming environment for students and parents.

    2. Create and implement for college and career focused programming that supports post-secondary education, planning, and career exploration for students.
    a. Provide parent and student education on FASFA application and support completion efforts.
    b. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with post-secondary, apprenticeship, military, business community, and workforce development organizations to present current information to students and families.
    c. Plan, organize, and deliver required college and career lessons for grades 9-12 utilizing the district adopted platform.
    d. Support scholarship, apprenticeship, and internship application completion efforts.

    3. Contribute to the school-wide advisement program in conjunction with the advisement team, to support career and post-secondary awareness, activities, and opportunities.

    4. Collaborate with the local school leadership, counselors, and teachers to gather and disseminate current career information as it relates to the educational progression from middle school to gainful employment for the career clusters and/or pathways of interest to students.

    5. Demonstrate program accountability using data to document the results of strategies and interventions utilized to support student achievement.

    6. Develop programs, in conjunction with the counseling department, to ensure on-time graduation for all students, which includes tiered levels of instruction and intervention services addressing students’ college/career readiness needs.

    7. Communicate effectively and consistently regarding post-secondary college and career opportunities and guidelines with students, parents/guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders.

    8. Support student awareness in employability skills, interest inventories and self-assessments to assist in post-secondary planning.

    9. Maintain a positive culture to support student achievement.
    a. Demonstrate belief in the capacity of all students to be successful.
    b. Assist students in developing action plans and strategies to accomplish their post-secondary goals.
    c. Encourage and support positive home and school communications.

    10. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
