Spherion in Dayton is hiring a Commercial Buyer for our client's team focused on North America in a front-end purchasing role working alongside sales to diversify the supply chain and negotiate cost savings for their customers. This position will be located in the Miamisburg site.Dynamic, bold, and entrepreneurial are characteristics that describe talent suitable to join the ambitious business. Pay range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 depending on experience as well as the opportunity to earn up to $10,000 in bonuses annually! This dynamic role will pro-actively lead price negotiating and coordinate strategic purchases at the front end of the purchasing department. The Commercial Buyer is core to our mission to deliver best-in-class customer service and cost savings through smart inventory management and strategic purchasing decisions. Core KPIs: Customer Satisfaction (NPS), Product OTD, Product Margins, and Gross Margins.
Responsibilities:
Buying and Delivery:
- Work alongside sales to dynamically negotiate supplier costs and enable more competitive pricing.
- Ensure suppliers enable shipments to us on time and in full.
- Work with sales to establish accurate forecasting requirements for purchasing.
- Analyze and achieve pack-size optimization to establish best-in-class responsiveness to our customers and cost savings.
- Analysis of data to ensure efficient stocking policies deliver commercial benefits.
- Analysis of reporting metrics to manage the external supply base.
- Point of contact on behalf of the purchasing team for certain commodities.
- Support the introduction of new products from existing and new suppliers.
- Placing purchase orders to ensure the inventory is kept at optimum levels.
- Maintain supplier price agreements, communicating changes where appropriate.
- Ensure ERP data is kept updated and maintained to the highest standard.
- Develop and leverage lean principles and digital solutions to continuously improve process and system efficiencies.

- CIPS or similar qualifications are preferred but not essential
- A track record of consistently delivering on commercial targets
- Comfortable with lean management tools and culture
