The Commercial Loan Closer is responsible for preparation, follow up and tracking of items for processing and assisting customers who are working with Bankers to obtain the necessary documentation to process commercial and business loans.


Prepare all loan documents for signature, verifying accuracy of the loan file, and ensuring the file has all completed documents prior to closing.

  • Ensure loan closing is progressing while working with the cross-functional team of Bankers, credit administration, CSR and processors.
  • Prepare and execute the transfer of lender funds for disbursement.
  • Coordinate and communicate with borrower’s, title companies and/or attorneys to schedule closings, preparing documents, review and instructions as necessary.
  • Provide the customer, banker, credit administration, CSR, and borrower’s attorney with timely and periodic status updates of the loan application.
  • Collect required documentation from applicants and follow up on missing items.
  • Establish, maintain and update files, databases, records and/or other documents for recurring internal reports.
  • Review underwriting conditions and work with underwriting to clear loan for closing.
  • Order all necessary documents needed for loan.
  • Assure that all customer files are complete and in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations and internal loan policies.
  • Ensure customer privacy, security of loan files and appropriate staff access.
  • Prepare denial letters and cancel files when necessary.
  • Maintain a pipeline report and notify management of status as needed.
  • Adheres specifically to all Bank policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws.
  • Has responsibility for following regulatory requirements including those pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC to assist in the identification, detection and determent of money laundering or other unlawful activities.
  • Performs scanning and indexing of documentation for loan and credit files as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • High School graduate or GED required. An Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of loan products, guidelines and documentation requirements is required.
  • A working knowledge of commercial credit principles and pertinent laws is preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer systems as they relate to bank lending activities, including Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel and Outlook is a must.
  • Knowledgeable in Jack Henry Silverlake Core Processing and LaserPro preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience in loan closing in a commercial bank environment.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while delivering highest levels of customer service with minimal supervision.
  • Microsoft Office suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook is a must.
  • Organized and detailed oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle unusual circumstances to alleviate obstacles and proceed with timely loan closing.

Physical Demands/Work Environment Requirements:

Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, and bend. A valid driver’s license is required. Must have the ability to work the days and hours required to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Must be a creative thinker and proactive problem solver with a history of working efficiently and effectively, meeting deadlines and following projects through to completion. Ability to work in a fast pace environment and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision while delivering the highest level of customer service. Must maintain the highest level of discretion and management of confidential and sensitive information.
