POSITION SUMMARY:

Foremost Farms is a dairy cooperative, but it is also a large, dynamic business that needs robust communications support. To be a successful candidate for the Foremost Farms Communications Manager position, you must have at least five years of communications experience that demonstrate you can thrive in a fast-paced work environment, balance multiple priorities and enjoy variety. You are prepared to be a leader in your field.

You will report to the Communications Director and will manage a broad scope of external and internal communications responsibilities that include but are not limited to media relations, social media, website content, community philanthropy and event support to employee communications, newsletters and presentations. You are a communications professional who can write quickly in a clear, consistent and inspiring style. You are an excellent proofreader and editor.

You have the flexibility and organizational skills to move between developing strategy and completing tasks, and you have a positive attitude about it. You are brave enough to offer new ideas and your opinion, and you are strong enough to accept that not every idea and opinion can be implemented. You enjoy team collaboration, but you also work well individually.

You will enjoy a semi-hybrid schedule that will be based on job demands and needs of the business. It will require frequent, but not necessarily daily, physical attendance in the workplace; and remote work will be allowed when possible. Occasional weekend hours may be required. Occasional travel for work, up to 10% of the time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The job description includes, but is not limited to, activities, duties or responsibilities that will be required. • Media relations: help develop and execute annual media relations strategies, build relationships with industry and key media reporters, write news releases, prepare talking points to support interview and media responses, monitor and analyze coverage
• Social media: update and manage annual social media strategy that is consistent with business objectives and brand, monitor posts and conversations, create basic visuals when needed
• Community philanthropy: support annual community relations philanthropy program, manage donation request reviews, identify opportunities to extend the reach of the program
• Website content: develop and maintain a newsroom and media library, create an editorial calendar and write stories for the website to tell the Foremost Farms story
• Events: provide support as needed to design presentations, write speeches, develop plans and other elements as needed
• Employee communications: research and develop internal stories, newsletters and meeting presentations to promote Foremost Farms’ products, services, projects and accomplishments; review and shape messages and presentations for other business units
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe suites, with basic design skills to support visual communications needs for social media and presentations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field; and a minimum of five years of experience in a communications-related role(s). A master’s degree in a related field of study is a plus.
