Community and Workforce Liasion

The Community and Workforce Liaison role will oversee developing/maintaining community partnerships, including workforce partners. The liaison will also represent NVCS at various events and support the different program departments by helping connect clients to needed services. The liaison will be called upon to research new community needs and hold campus events, such as monthly workforce workshops, to help clients connect easily to services. The liaison will be responsible for traveling to different agencies to learn more about them and keeping an up-to-date database of resources for the agency. This role will be an essential part of NVCS, and will have the opportunity to work with various departments and execute new ideas.

Essential Duties:

  • Act as a liaison to identify and cultivate strong community partnerships and elevate NVCS’s presence. Specifically, work with the Volunteer Coordinator to build relationships with businesses, churches, and organizations to grow support for NVCS.

· Organize and attend on-site monthly job workshops and other events that would assist the local low-income community. Particularly work with government officials to bring more services to the community.

· Connect with individuals and families to relay resources and follow up with both parties on the connections made. Assist community members in particular related to career pathways and job readiness.

  • Make sure to conduct follow-up discussions and meetings with all key referral sources, ensuring internal and external partnerships grow and flourish.

· Develop and maintain a database of up-to-date resources and partnerships that can be shared with clients, staff, and the local community.

· Develop and execute a research plan for partnership and workforce growth within the San Fernando Valley.

· Represent the agency in meetings, assist with community planning/execution, and be able to relay the importance of NVCS work.

· Work with the Development Director for partnership cultivation and social media interaction.

· Participate in agency and community meetings as designated by the supervisor

· Additional tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

· 2 years of experience providing community connections and/or case management.

· Excellent communication and writing skills.

· Ability to authentically build strong working relationships with people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds to meet clients and the community where they are at.

· Experience organizing events, workshops and understands the workforce landscape

· Strong Computer skills; able to effectively use a computerized database for client files. management, with basic skills in Microsoft Word, Gmail, Excel programs, etc.

· Bachelor’s degree preferred or AA degree and at least 3 years experience in the non-profit field.

· Bilingual: Spanish/English preferred.

· Must have a valid driver’s license.

· Must be vaccinated against COVID-19.

· Strong experience working within team environments and ability to collaborate.

Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines, thrive on problem-solving and challenges

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
