Federation of Organizations is seeking a part time Residential Community Assistant at Irving Berkowitz Residence in Brentwood, Long Island. Flexible schedule is available.

DEPARTMENT: Residential Services

HOURS: Part-time

JOB FUNCTION:

To provide positive role model of community functioning, informal counseling and peer supports to others with psychiatric disabilities currently living in residential programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Personal experience with mental health issues. Good mastery of ADL skills. Ability and desireto assist others in mastery of independent living skills. Understanding of peer support self-help philosophy. Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Provide role models of positive functioning in the community.

B. Provide support to residents by sharing their experiences, strengths, hopes,

and supporting residents in taking steps for their personal recovery.

C. Assist with linkage to community resources that will support residents

in successful movement to permanent housing in the community.

D. Provides community integration services to residents during the discharge process and after their discharge as follow-up.

E. Provides transportation to residents as needed.

F. Reports all incidents to Program Supervisor and/or Program Manager and documents incidents as per agency policies/procedures.

G. Comply with agency Compliance Plan and False Claims Policy by preventing, detecting and reporting any potential healthcare abuse and fraud. Report any potential non-compliance and comply with all other federal, state and local regulations applicable to this job description.

H. Utilize all agency based IT applications pertaining to this job description in a proficient manner.

I. Remain current on changing developments in individual field of expertise.

J. Perform all other job duties as assigned.
