The Community Development Extension Educator serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide, and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships and action, and facilitating positive impacts that support: thriving individuals and families; effective organizations; healthy and vibrant communities; and strong economies.
This Community Development Extension Educator position will serve Vernon County, and surrounding communities. The Community Development Extension Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position's programmatic focus: building the capacity of entrepreneurs, community organizations, and coalitions. The Educator will assess needs and develop educational responses (e.g. workshops, peer networks, facilitated processes). Initial work will be to engage in the delivery of existing community economic development efforts (e.g., entrepreneurial ecosystem development and targeted business assistance) and develop educational curriculum and technical assistance in support of our community partners and local organizations that will build entrepreneurial capacity, bringing together strategic business and community leaders around addressing key community issues (e.g. building childcare capacity through systematic support structures.) The Educator will collaborate with local partners already serving the area.
This position will also play a lead role in supporting the ongoing development and delivery of a statewide effort, the Rural Wisconsin Entrepreneurship Initiative, that serves entrepreneurship in Vernon County and throughout Wisconsin. The Educator will work with a team of colleagues to refine and deliver existing and planned RWEI programs to increase the success of rural entrepreneurs in Wisconsin by addressing three areas of need: (1) business development assistance; (2) rural entrepreneurial ecosystems; and (3) access to finance.
As part of the position's county-based work, the Community Development Extension Educator connects Vernon County and its communities to other Community Development and Extension resources and supports priority local initiatives through the facilitation of group and community engagement processes.
The main office for this position is located in Viroqua, WI and the primary programming focus is Vernon County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.
- 20% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
- 10% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
- 20% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
- 10% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
- 20% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
- 5% May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
- 5% Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
- 10% Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Area Extension Director, Program Managers, partners and relevant stakeholders

Bachelor's Degree in a field relevant to the programmatic responsibility of the position

Preferred:
-At least 3 years of relevant field and work experience in the area of programming and service delivery such as; entrepreneur development, nonprofit management, or leadership development.-
- Ability to work cooperatively with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations to address educational needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments
- Experience managing multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high quality work
- Demonstrated skill in interpreting, utilizing, and applying evidence-based information and research findings
- Demonstrated success in developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes
- Demonstrated experience developing effective partnerships or coalitions with community partners and local governments

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
