UVM has two new positions to support a new Open Source Program Office (OSPO) which will be working with UVM’s Complex Systems Center and UVM Libraries. VERSO is going to be a super cool project that will work on creating more open source and open science opportunities in Vermont. This is actually one of the first OSPOs ever to be at a university so it’s a really novel project, which is super exciting!

VERSO Community Manager: The VERSO Community Manager is a full-time position 2-year grant-funded position that will be responsible for all operations of creating an exciting new community around open source software. The VERSO community manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing VERSO community projects, educational training sessions and program support, and helping to promote the GitLab software repository at the University Library. We expect this position to serve as a welcoming and kind liaison for open-source software contributors at all skill levels.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution. Applicants are required to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal.

Bachelor’s degree in an information technology field and one to three years’ related or specialized experience required. Working knowledge of open-source software utilization.
