Brookside is currently hiring for a 40-hour WIC Nutritionist to join our WIC-Nutrition department. This position is based on site. There is flexibility for 1-2 days remote work. This individual may rotate through 2-3 sites per week. Our locations are listed on our webpage here: JP-Brighton WIC at Brigham.
Job responsibilities:
- Provides nutrition care to WIC participants, under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist including all aspects of:
- Anthropometric and hematological data collection
- Dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment and food package prescription
- Nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education
- Documentation and data entry
- Referrals to other health and social services
- Follow up nutrition education
- Co-sign and consult support to nutrition paraprofessional staff
- Participates in department performance improvement/quality assurance activities.
- Participates in department meetings, health center meetings, and applicable WIC task force committees
- Completes all required Brigham and DPH trainings by assigned deadlines
- Completes monthly statistics reports, monthly time study, and other required reports
- May provide training for dietetic interns or volunteers
- Serves as a professional resource for health center staff and community agencies and provides them with nutrition information through individual consultation
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition
- Ability to provide nutrition counseling in Spanish – functional Spanish is acceptable. Portuguese fluency desired as well.
- Prior WIC experience strongly preferred
- Ability to travel to several WIC sites in the Boston area
- Familiarity with maternal and child nutrition
- Strong individual and group counseling skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong tech literacy
- Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
