Compliance Officer
Job description
Description: A Property Management Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that a property management company and its properties comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. This role involves monitoring and evaluating property operations, policies, and procedures to identify areas of non-compliance and develop strategies to rectify any issues.
Reports to: Executive Leadership Team
Position Type: Full-Time, Non-exempt
The Essential Functions for this Position are as follows:
- Conducting regular audits of property management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Completing file audits to ensure that all necessary documentation is present and accurate.
- Completing all CTCAC (California Tax Credit Allocation Committee) forms accurately and on time to ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Conducting income calculations to determine tenant eligibility for affordable housing programs.
- Developing and implementing compliance training programs for property management staff.
- Investigating and resolving compliance-related complaints or concerns from tenants or other stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities and reporting to management as necessary.
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with changing laws and regulations.
- Collaborating with other property management staff to identify areas of risk and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Staying current with industry trends and changes in regulations that may impact property management operations.
- Liaising with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Skills required to complete this job include but are not limited to the following:
- Relevant experience in property management or regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of property management operations and regulatory compliance
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
- Customer service oriented
- Detail-oriented
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Resourcefulness
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Travel Requirements:Travel for this position requires you to have reliable transportation. Travel requirements may change at any time.
