Job Title: Computer Operations Specialist

Department: LRS Guam

Job Summary:

The Computer Operations Specialists duties and responsibilities include the management, operation, and maintenance of both the material and traffic management portions of the installation Local Area Network (LAN), which includes establishing customer connectivity and controlling access to information systems. The Computer Operations Specialist shall maintain AFITS terminal security, perform system administrator functions for supply, traffic, and material management related microcomputer applications, and shall establish and implement Degraded Operations to continue manual supply operations when the ILS-S is not operational including recovery processes. Work out in the sections for troubleshooting and inventory of IT assets.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating with the Computer Support Base (CSB) to schedule the production of and obtain ILS-S reports and listings.
  • Notify and distribute updates to all users of AFITS software including Supply Difficulty Reports (DIREPS), Supply Releases, Rapid Communication (RAPCOM), and System Advisory Notification (SAN).
  • Monitor all supply (23) series and all transportation (24) series publications and notify users as updates occur.
  • Monitor and resolve supply 799 rejects (Supply Data Base errors) as they occur, review, and approve Base Supply ADPE Work Requests (AF Form 2011), prepare report parameters and monitor production schedules, shall use LIMS-EV or any available tool to retrieve supply data and shall be the administrator for Invicta Defense programs for Material Management and Transportation annexes.
  • Processes a range of scheduled routines.
  • Operating the system and resolving common error conditions, this worker diagnoses and acts on machine stoppage and error conditions not fully covered by existing procedures and guidelines (e.g., resetting switches and other controls or making mechanical adjustments to maintain or restore equipment operations.
  • Other duties as directed by management

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Provide end-user support related to computer hardware and software troubleshooting, repair, installations, configurations, and maintenance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows (i.e. XP, Vista, 7) and Windows Server (i.e. 2003, 2008) environment, to include server troubleshooting, apply security configurations to IT assets based on the standards provided in the DoD Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) or Microsoft Security Guidelines and lead IT projects to set up and deploy IT assets in workplaces and/or other IT related projects.
  • Basic knowledge of Oracle database management to support specific applications is required to fulfill data backup and restoration procedures.
  • Some work may include heavy lifting of computer assets related to new IT requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining the records for all IT assets inventory and complete all service tickets assigned using the MIS Registry application.
  • Assist in the administration, backup, monitor, restoration, and deployment of servers based on the developed checklist and reviewed by the System Administrator.
  • Working under the Management Information Systems (MIS) department and must adhere to departmental procedures and performs work in accordance with relevant DOD Information Assurance and local policies.
  • Additional duties reflect the duties of the IAT Level II outlined in DOD Directive 8570.01-M section C3.4.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of four (4) years experience in IT hardware, software, and network configurations
  • Obtain the following certification(s) within 6 months of employment:
    • A+ or Network + and one of the following: Security +, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP) or Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certifications as the minimum requirement to perform Information Assurance Technical II and administrative duties under this contract to support employees and its customers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility.
  • Physical demands include intermittent sitting, standing, and walking, and occasional bending reaching, and lifting.

Special Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
