Confirmations Technologist Trainee - 2nd Shift

If so, LabCorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Confirmations Technologist Trainee in RTP, NC. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".
Participate in LabCorp's in-house training program for the field of Cytogenetics. Receive in depth training and preparation for the ASCP board examination and ASCP-CG certification. Training program is a two year commitment and requires signing a training reimbursement agreement.
The schedule for this position will be 2nd Shift Tuesday-Saturday 3pm-11pm
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science- Previous experience is not required at the Technologist Trainee level
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
- Cytogenetics experience is preferred, but not required
- Ability to work independently within a team and strong attention to detail
- Strong organization skills
- Must be flexible with time and adaptable to change.
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Ability to work overtime as business needs
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Cytogenetics experience is preferred, but not required
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs laboratory tests and analyses according to established procedures in designated technical department- Evaluates procedures and methods under direct supervision of more senior technologist, department supervisor, or group leader
- Assists in training and orientation of trainees as required
- Performs laboratory tasks to diagnose chromosomal abnormalities from patient specimens
- Culture and harvest of cells from oncology specimen types
- Dropping and staining slides
- Analysis and karyotyping of patient samples by standard microscopy and computerized imaging
