Job Summary:
The Connector Store Retail Sales Associate (or Commuter Specialist (CS)) is the primary person for operating and maintaining the Fairfax Connector store including securing the storeroom, selling and processing transactions involving bus fare media products and services (SmarTrip, E-Z Pass) to customers and provide information and assistance to customers regarding Fairfax Connector bus routes, schedule times, bus tracker information and trip planning.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Secure all entrances and exits to the Connector store including opening and closing during regularly schedule hours. During
- Maintain neat, orderly, controlled storage and clean shelving, cabinets, storeroom floors, and assigned areas.
- Keep displays neat and materials (bus schedules, maps, fare media etc) stocked
- Report any necessary heavy maintenance or repairs
- Responsible for selling and processing transactions involving bus fare media products and services (SmarTrip, E-Z Pass) to customers including new fare cards, adding value to fare cards
- Providing information and assistance regarding bus routes, schedule times, bus tracker information and trip planning.
- Must communicate effectively with customers and staff
- Learn and utilize WMATA, Fairfax Connector, DASH, and other Transportation information websites
- Obtain adequate facts using good judgment in finding answers and solutions to the customer’s inquiry, question, or concern.
- Perform other operational requirements as needed, while keeping the Manager informed on a regular basis.
- Communication with the Manager is a must
- All other duties as assigned
Competencies
:
- Strong customer service, active listening, and verbal and written communication skills, professional phone voice is required.
- Basic proficiency with computers is required.
- Ability to learn and operator Contact Point of Sales (CPOS) machines to process fare media transactions.
- Ability to work independently
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred
Education and Experience
:
- Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred
Scheduling Requirements
:
- Schedule and Location will vary to accommodate business needs.
- This position may work Monday through Friday from 6:15 AM to 2:45 PM and/or 2:15 PM to 7:15 PM at any of the following locations:
- Franconia-Springfield Metro Station
- Reston Town Center Transit Station
- Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station
- This position may work Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6:15 AM to 10:45 AM and/or 2:45 PM - 7:15 AM at any of the following locations:
- Herndon-Monroe Park and Ride
- Tysons-West*Park Transit Station
- Stringfellow Road Park & Ride
Physical Requirements
:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift, push and/or pull up to 15 pounds
