JOB SUMMARY
Natural Habitat Adventures (Nat Hab), a Boulder, Colorado-based adventure travel company focused on nature and wildlife, is seeking a Conservation Group Travel Specialist. As a member of the Sales Department, the Conservation Group Travel Specialist will be directly responsible for coordinating, planning, booking and generally overseeing a wide range of sales with partner organizations. These partners include World Wildlife Fund donor groups, Exclusive Resorts, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, UCLA Alumni Travel, Lindblad Expeditions VIP Photographer tours and others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Conservation Group Travel Specialist must be customer service oriented, toward both individual travelers as well as contacts at partner organizations. Strong sales experience, a highly organized approach to work, and an ability to multitask is essential. In addition, a passion for relationship building with conservation organizations and an interest in conservation travel is key.


The successful applicant must be able to perform the following duties. Additional duties may be added or assigned at any time.

  • Work directly with WWF to manage and plan the Insider Journeys program.
  • Be well versed in current WWF projects around the world to assist in matching trips with current or future conservation projects.
  • Maintain and build relationships with WWF donors as they pertain to the Insider Journeys travel program.
  • Pursue all group leads leading to proposals. This is likely to include slide deck presentations, written proposals and active follow-up. Most of this happens virtually, but some in-person presentations may be required.
  • Prospect with high-potential groups that may be new to Nat Hab, or which we haven’t worked with recently, in an effort to grow the groups program using careful vetting criteria.
  • Field requests and plan custom itineraries from WWF Major Donors and Exclusive Resorts.
  • Work with the Nat Hab Operations teams to evaluate the possibilities of custom adjustments or modifications to existing programs, hold times, proposal and agreement terms.
  • Work with the Nat Hab Operations team to set all special group terms, including release dates, pricing sheets and applicable Free of Charge terms.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in drafting contracts and tour agreements.
  • Act as the primary point person on all incoming group inquiries, bookings and cancellations.
  • Ensure that any special terms or agreements are enacted as promised on trip, and that all special contractual elements are fulfilled (e.g. gift officers and WWF scientists are confirmed and prepared).
  • Attend and present at group webinars when they are held to plug the benefits of the trip to a group audience.
  • Coordinate with every group to ensure their materials and trip info match our own trip materials and trip info.
  • Work with our Pre-Trip department to ensure that any special consideration of materials provided matches the request of the group.
  • Attend all Sales meetings and trainings to remain fresh on updates, skills and technological upgrades pertaining to selling.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
B.A. or B.S. degree is preferred. Minimum 3+ years in travel industry sales is preferred. Experience creating and managing travel programs is preferred. A background in conservation or philanthropy is preferred.

Communication Skills
Using the English language, this person must possess the ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally with a professional demeanor.

Other Skills/Abilities
Proficient computer skills in the Windows operating system, including both word-processing and spreadsheet applications.

Strong skills in time management, handling multiple tasks, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.

The ability to work independently as well as with others in a team environment.

Must display exceptional professionalism.

Periodic travel may be required.


LOCATION

This position is available as fully remote or hybrid remote and in-person in our Boulder County, Colorado office. Relocation assistance is not available.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and listen. The employee will also be required to write and type.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation commensurate with experience: Base salary from $59,000 - $69,000 plus commission on group sales.

This position comes with generous Paid Time Off and paid holidays. Benefits include site inspection on Natural Habitat Adventures trips and pro deals on outdoor clothing. Eligibility for medical insurance, participation in 401(k) with company match and parental leave after a predetermined period of time.
