Position Description: Construction (QA) Inspector
***Work Location: Tallahassee, FL****
Salary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interview
Essential Duties
- Provide inspection and surveillance of construction work to ensure the work is in accordance with the contract.
- Monitor submittals utilizing a submittal status log.
- Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor’s requests for payment. .
- Review and acknowledge daily reports including verification of the project schedule by indicating the activities worked on that day and the activities behind schedule.
- Maintain an Inspectors Site Inspection Report.
- Maintain orderly working files for correspondence, minutes of meetings and conferences, payments, updated progress schedules, monthly progress reports, punch lists, field changes,
- Requests for Information (RFI), and contract documents including amendments, notices to proceed, change orders, modifications, and other locally generated documents developed during the course of construction.
- Participate in pre-final and final inspections, assist in preparations of detailed punch-lists and check that all punch list items are corrected prior to final payment.
- Verify accurate as-built drawings on a weekly basis
- Assist in review and comment on all O&M Manuals.
- Civil works construction, embankment, concrete wall and foundation experience preferred, Geotech survey experience is a plus
Required Experience
- Experience with wide range of trades including, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roofing, and general building construction
- Experience with Federal Construction projects, particularly USACE, is preferred
- Demonstrate proficiency and effective communications skills in the English language in both oral and written forms
- Must have knowledge of building and construction crafts since detailed inspections must be made to ensure the required level of workmanship
- Must be capable of reading contract drawings and specifications
- Interaction with clients and contractors requires candidate to have a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Education
- High School Diploma is required or GED
- Minimum of five years of applicable experience on construction projects
