JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for construction service drops with a variety of equipment, including bore rigs such as JT5 and JT9. Jobs involve customer contact, surveying property for obstacles, planning the bury route, performing physical labor in completing construction service drops, and restoration of property. This position is compensated on an hourly basis with production pay.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Perform physical labor to complete construction service drops using a variety of excavation equipment, or using hand trenching.
• Effectively survey the property for obstacles and plan the bury route.
• Restore property to original condition.
• Use hand tools to connect wires to terminals and to attach and detach various kinds of hardware to cable, etc.
• The work shall be constructed and completed in strict compliance with all laws, ordinances, rules and regulations (including occupational safety and health standards) of all governmental and public authorities having jurisdiction over the work.
• Be knowledgeable and follow all One Call laws, rules and regulations.
• Make careful examinations of the work site and of the plans, specifications, construction sheets and maps to become informed as to the location and nature of the proposed construction, existing utilities and the kind and character of the soil and terrain to be encountered.
• Strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures provided by TAK Communications CA.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS

• Possess knowledge of procedures and equipment to identify and clearly mark existing underground cables as directed.
• Operate, locate and bury drop equipment as required within areas of responsibility.
• Wear TAK CA approved apparel that clearly identifies you as a TAK CA employee.
• Possess knowledge of TAK Communications CA safety program, practice and enforce safety rules and procedures.
• Safely drive/maneuver vehicle and cable trailer in and around construction sites, parking lots, etc.
• Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
• Maintain regular attendance and to arrive to work on time.
• Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.
• Possess an enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented approach towards work and all work projects.
• Actively follow TAK Communications CA policies and procedures.
• Ability to pass background and drug screen.
• Maintain a current and valid driver’s license and good to excellent driving record.
• Willing to travel.
• Ability to pass background and drug screen.
• Must be able to speak the English language clearly, concisely, and communicate effectively in a courteous and professional manner.
• Class B would be a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
• Work performed near power lines and electricity
• Work and travel in inclement weather
• Work outdoors with all aspects of nature to include a variety of insects and plants.
• Work overtime as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness and ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of the equipment (Body Weight must not exceed 260 lbs.)
• Ability to carry, climb, operate and work upon an extension ladder - (approximately 28 ft high and 75 pounds)
• Ability to operate a variety of drop bury equipment.
• Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices.
