CONSUMER SERVICES DIRECTOR

The Organization

North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.

SUPERVISION: Works under the supervision of the Chief Consumer and Community Services Officer; provides supervision to the Consumer Services Managers and Consumer Services Supervisors.

THE POSITION AND JOB SUMMARY

Plans, organizes, directs and provides subject matter expertise/technical assistance for the overall work of a division/assigned project of the Consumer Services Department, to include one or more of the following areas:

• Early Start/School Age
• Transition/Adult/CPP/Federal Revenues
• Branch Offices/Self-Determination Services

These are examples of the types of duties that may be performed. Additional duties may be added.

• Leads the process of developing and implementing department goals and objectives for assigned departments
• Directs the implementation of policies, procedures, and work plans for assigned departments
• Formulates quality performance standards and outcomes to measure, evaluate productiveness and accountability of assigned departments
• Provides or arranges staff training and evaluate assigned staff
• Prepares and presents statistical and analytical reports on activities in assigned departments
• Participates in management and senior management groups and committees, both locally and statewide, inclusive of legislative activities

Employment Standards

Master’s degree in Social Services of policies, procedures, and work plans for assigned departments. Minimum of six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional experience working with individuals who have intellectual or developmental disabilities or in a related setting.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of regional center system
• Planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the work of a large social service department or organization
• Interpretation of complex governmental (and other) regulatory information
• Possess strong negotiation and conflict management skills
• Microsoft Office and related applications

Essential Requirements

Frequent telephone and out-of-office meetings required. Valid CDL and reliable and transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.

This position is exempt. Regular Salary: $49.57 ‑ $74.88 per hour. Please note that this position is subject to a temporary "add on" enhancement of 9.85% for qualified compensation. For more information, please contact Human Resources.
