The Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust (‘PRSTRT” or “Trust”) is a private non-profit organization created in 2004 to maximize Puerto Rico’s participation and creation of jobs in the global knowledge economy by promoting investment and financing of science and technology research development. The organization manages and hosts over a dozen initiatives that range from grants and technical support to meetups and educational resources for researchers, entrepreneurship and public health ecosystem, technology transfer, clinical investigation, biodiversity, and cultural heritage, among others. PRSTRT invests, facilitates, and builds capacity to continually advance Puerto Rico’s economy and its citizen’s well-being through our main strategic pillars: Research & Development, Entrepreneurship, Public Health, and STEM Education.

Content & Editorial Specialist for social media and web

Reports To:
Communications & Marketing Manager

Works with:
Other social media specialists, video producers, and graphic designers.
He/she must work according to the directions of the Content Strategist and Communications & Marketing Manager for PRSTRT.

Location/Hours:
San Juan, Puerto Rico

Working Model:
Hybrid work, partly in the physical workplace and partly remotely. This position also would require participating in outreach events around the Island to document and update social media outlets. Must hold a valid Puerto Rico driver’s license.

Purpose:

This position will develop, execute, and support the Puerto Rico Science, Technology & Research Trust (PRSTRT) following branding guidelines, implementing branding strategy and best practices on a social media plan, email campaign publishing, and web content creation, editing, and posting. Is responsible for providing new strategies, increasing social media reach, managing all community interactions, and creating and analyzing social media reporting. Our brand seeks to hire a creative person with passion to support strategic pillars, designed to collaborate and aliufications & Technical Job Requirements to facilitate the path of Puerto Rico Science Technology & Research Trust (PRPHT).


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Developing social media calendar and schedule and posting on the organization's social networks and doing analytics on the platforms, aligned with the goals and objectives of multiple brands and audiences.
  • Participate in meetings, training, events, and onsite visits to develop relevant content for social media and websites.
  • Create attractive and relevant copies and visual content for the social media calendar using the brand’s voice.
  • Create digital paid ad campaigns and daily monitoring performance.
  • Support in the planning of events, seminars, and fairs to help promote the program's initiatives.
  • Coordinate newsletter process, gather data, and put content together, including storyboards for videos, motion graphics, and illustrations in the selected platforms. Write and publish newsletter content.
  • Answer and manage community messaging, reviews, FAQs, and comments on all social media platforms. Maintain healthy relations and conversations with diverse types of audiences.
  • Ability to use Content Management Systems and research tools
  • Web page copywriting, translation (English and Spanish), designing visual content, editing, and uploading blog posts out to digital media channels.
  • Meet deadlines, keep track of content throughout the editorial process, and ensure the work is submitted on time
  • Put together storyboards for videos, motion graphics, and illustrations.
  • Have proven experience developing and delivering creative content, with a basic design platform. Experience in designing static graphics, creative copies, Giff, video clips, and animated visual content for social media, websites, and print materials is an added value.
  • Must be able to work in collaboration with graphic designers, web developers, and video producers.
  • Maintaining a constant presence and respecting the brand guidelines for multiple brands at the same time
  • Use social media monitoring software for tracking and gathering relevant content across all social media platforms
  • Keep team leaders always informed on situations requiring actions.
  • Prepare presentations for the team with social media metrics and insights on engagement, and media effectiveness.
  • Media monitoring and clipping of articles about our multiple brands in the portfolio.
  • Identify areas of opportunity in digital and traditional media to generate exposure, awareness, results, and publicity value
  • Be creative and enthusiastic in bringing ideas for developing storytelling about our organization and our strategic pillars.

Qualifications & Technical Jobs Requirements:


The Content & Editorial Specialist for social media and the Web shall:

  • Basic knowledge or willingness to work with the following platforms:
    • Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Creator Studio, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Zoom, YouTube Studio
    • Meta Business Manager, Google Ads & Google Analytics
    • WordPress, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop
    • Photo and video-editing software is an asset.
  • Doer mindset with extremely good communications skills; plus be willing to lead and take projects to a whole new level alongside an amazing team.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment; comfortable and effective in influencing at all organizational levels; ability to tactfully give/receive constructive feedback.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple simultaneous projects and brands under strict timelines and within confidential circumstances. Take action to continue to develop technical expertise.
  • A strong work ethic, ability to maintain and model high personal, ethical, and professional standards, as well as an outgoing and positive personality.
    • Occasionally, will be required to work outside regular business hours to complete special projects and reports.


Education Training Expriences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising, Communication, Marketing, Arts, Journalism, Creative Writing, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in direct managing social media digital marketing and supporting webpage development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages. Write and edit with speed and accuracy, displaying a strong knowledge of grammar and the ability to create clear, engaging, and interesting text.
  • Impeccable proofreading and editing abilities and command of grammar/punctuation, style, and format.
    Ability to communicate, translate, simplify, and articulate complex ideas easily understood and relatable concepts.

  • Must provide a website or digital portfolio
