Operations include GCC Energy an underground coal mine (King II) in Hesperus, CO. Producing coal for use in the manufacturing of cement we serve a niche market with a bright future. High quality coal in strong demand, long term reserves and excellent working conditions. Located in beautiful Southern Colorado the mine is near Durango CO, Bayfield CO Farmington NM, Cortez CO and Mancos CO among other areas. This area is an outdoor lover’s paradise.

What you will do:
The Continuous Miner Operator operates self-propelled mining machines that rip coal, metal and nonmetal ores, rock, stone, or sand from the mine face and load it onto conveyors or into shuttle cars in a continuous operation.
- Operates mining machines to gather coal and convey it to floors or shuttle cars.
- Conducts pre-operational visual, physical, and operational checks on the machine.
- Hangs ventilation tubing and ventilation curtains to ensure that the mining face area is kept properly ventilated.
- Administers methane gas checks to ensure breathing quality of air.
- Examines the stability of roof and rib support systems before mining face areas.
- Transport miner to and from working face areas safely and efficiently.
- Complies with state and federal health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures and the company's environmental compliance policy.
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two years working in underground coal mine as a Continuous Miner operator.
- Need to have your MSHA 32-hour training.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Watching gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure the machine is working properly.
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Ability to follow specific instructions while maintaining acceptable established standards of work performance and conduct, show the necessary and consistent energy, as well as acceptable mental and physical dexterity, for the satisfactory completion of the main responsibilities as summarized and defined.
