Summary
This position requires an organized, detail-oriented individual to work on variety of contract matters, including drafting and negotiating contracts, reviewing and responding to requests for proposals (“RFPs”), preparing documentation related to E-Rate Program and State, Local, and Education (“SLED”) contracts, and collaborating with members of other departments to address contract-related matters. The individual will also work on a variety of other legal matters, as needed.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
Reviews, prepares, and negotiates agreements and/or related documents with customers, subcontractors, and/or vendors, including assisting SLED team in reviewing and preparing required documentation related to purchases under government contract purchasing vehicle arrangements and/or for the use of E-Rate funds by schools and libraries, as well as drafting and revising (redlining) contracts- Reviews contractual documents generated by company sales team members or third parties, including master sales agreements and related order documents, non-disclosure agreements, contract purchasing vehicles ,and E-Rate documentation
- Prepares various legal documents (including contracts and other forms) for review, approval, and use by General Counsel
- Collaborates with internal and external legal department(s) and business personnel for contractual changes, contract interpretation, and other requests
- Reviews and responds to RFPs
- Maintains files and logs of all current and completed contracts as required by company policy
- Periodically serves as backfill and/or overflow support to cover other department areas when needed
- Provides legal support to General Counsel and/or other department members on work assignments as needed
- Handles a wide variety of confidential and time sensitive matters, and must be able to keep matters confidential
- Researches legal issues, as necessary, as they apply to the company and its business operations
- Gathers facts and/or prepares documents to assist the General Counsel and/or other department members
- Prepares various correspondence (e.g., letters, memoranda, and reports)
- Performs administrative tasks (including, but not limited to, creating and/or maintaining logs for various business licenses, , sending and receiving mail and packages, and maintaining filing systems)
- Performs other clerical duties (e.g., scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail)
Required Qualifications
- 2-year college degree in Business or related field or extensive job-related experience.
- Experience negotiating contracts/agreements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, utilize telecommunications systems such as Microsoft Teams and Cisco WebEx, and similar software and/or systems.
- Self-starter with the ability to work remotely with a diverse and geographically dispersed group of colleagues, customers, and other third parties.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
- 4-year college degree in Business preferred, will consider candidates with Law Degree.
- Previous business experience in a sales, high-tech software and/or hardware sales (including cloud, software as a service (“SaaS”), E-Rate, and/or SLED deals), and/or telecommunications environment preferred.
