Middletown Steam Turbine Generating Station is a 767.9MW oil fired power project. The CRO is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all Plant equipment under their control in accordance with written plant procedures and under the direction of the Operations Shift Supervisor. In the absence of specific orders and/or directives, the Operator exercises initiative, using experience and good judgment in Plant operation. Comply with plant policies including those concerning safety and environmental.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Operator,

• Oversee the safe, efficient, reliable and environmentally sound operation of plant equipment
• Properly operate Control Room, boiler, steam turbine, plant auxiliary equipment and systems, combustion turbines and auxiliaries during normal and emergency operation
• Communicate information clearly, both orally and written
• Troubleshoot plant equipment to resolve operational problems
• Operate various computer systems to receive, analyze, comprehend and input data
• Monitor and record data available through the use of various instruments, recording charts, annunciator systems and other monitoring devices onto shift logs as directed by plant operational procedures
• Implement Plant Emergency Procedures as needed
• Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Communicate conditions of plant system and equipment to others
• Apply knowledge of steam power plant operations and basic power plant principles to daily decision-making and work tasks
• Operate computers and printers
• Discern and respond to verbal and auditory signals from control panel
• Work without supervision inspection while carrying out duties
• Take, record and analyze readings of various electrical and mechanical meters
• Knowledge of and ability to operate various switches and valves and the effect each has on the total operation

Qualifications:

Job Experience, Abilities, and Skills Required:

• Six or more years of experience with high-pressure boiler and steam turbine operation.
• Excellent technical and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated leadership characteristic and potential
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment and perform effectively without close supervision.
• Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail required.
• Ability to use discretion concerning confidential and sensitive company information.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment and/or out-doors work environment. Out-doors environment at generating plant locations include: working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating unit work locations)

• Requires operation of a motor vehicle; valid driver's license is required.
• Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
• Requires operation of a personal computer.
• May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
• Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
