Job description
The Controller is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the company. Maintain all fiscal functions of the company in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the software industry and for newly public companies. Direct the successful running of the organization
Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance- Participate in the development of the company's plans and programs as a strategic partner
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO and the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company
- Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline
- Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization
- Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
- Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
- Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the company may enter
- Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers
- Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances
- Ensure adequate scheduling of employee resources to meet production requirements
- Work to meet or exceed established goals and objectives set within specific job descriptions and well as department and company metrics
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3-5 years of experience preferably in manufacturing
- Understanding of GAAP, governmental, cost and fixed asset accounting
- Solid foundation in general ledger accounting
- Strong Excel skills
- Organized and self-directed individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs
- Ability to interact with a diversity of people and diverse levels of personnel
- The ability to communicate clearly to all levels of staff
- Must use sound judgment on ambiguous issues
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others
