Based in the Oceanside, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. - Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
- Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible
- Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations
- Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
- Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
- Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
- Policies & procedures experience desired
- Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
- Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
- Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company
