Position Summary

This position is responsible for creating electric vehicle controls software necessary to support the serial production and assembly of EV systems. This includes working with vehicle controls system software, creating manufacturing and service-related procedures as well as documents, and collaborating with both the production team and customer service team to resolve escalated service cases. This role serves a primary interface between production and the controls development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operations team, production team, and customer service team in the implementation and diagnostics of controls software and hardware, including implementing engineering changes and improvements
  • Design and implement cost reduction and time reduction improvements associated with commissioning and service requirements
  • Redline wire harness drawings and schematics, updating as needed
  • Support software testing and validation tasks
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot delivered customer systems (both locally and remotely)
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Time management: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines with tight timelines, remain organized, and ability to focus on work in a fast-paced environment. Maintain accuracy and detail-orientation.
  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully with all colleagues and customers. Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills are essential along with the ability to listen intently to others.
  • Self-starter: Independently start and complete projects with limited direction.
  • Customer Service: Passion for delivering exemplary service. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers as well as ability to turn expectations into engineering requirements. You should also be collaborative and exhibit a positive attitude toward your work and colleagues.

What we require:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent; Associate’s degree
  • 2 years of experience in a controls systems engineering or software engineering role in manufacturing, automotive, or related industry
  • 1 year of experience with Simulink and Matlab (development and application)
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and tools (soldering, wiring, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Controls/Mechatronics theory, interest, and practical experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, FTP, and basic networking

What we prefer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; or equivalent work experience in a similar role combined with education
  • 3+ years of experience in a controls systems engineering or software engineering role in manufacturing, automotive, or related industry
  • Demonstrated experience working in PTC Creo Schematics, or a similar wire/schematic design tool
  • Demonstrated experience with wire harnesses and automotive electrical systems
  • Understanding of electric vehicle systems and operation
  • ERP and PDM experience

Physical demands and abilities

  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks, including prolonged periods at a desk
