The Controls Instrumentation Engineer will join our team with the Facilities and Testing Division to bring creative ideas and diverse backgrounds to help us envision, shape, and deliver systems that will enable the exploration of space while benefiting people here on Earth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a vital member of a team of Controls/Instrumentation engineers, you will lead projects developing new systems and enhancing existing platforms to support data acquisition of the thermal vacuum chambers used for space simulation at CTSD facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:

- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- Education: Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, or a related field.
- Years of Experience: Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
- Experience with data acquisition systems including sensor specification, calibration, and system integration.
- Computer programming experience.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs and programming software.
- Familiarity with OPC DA/UA.
- Familiarity with National Instrument Data Acquisition systems.
- Familiarity with LabView.
PREFERRED:
- Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
WORK LOCATION:
This position is located onsite and will be on a 9/80 schedule, off every other Friday, supporting the JETS II contract.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:
All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.
DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:
All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.
STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:
All of Bastion's employees must be team players, able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives, they must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented. In addition, they must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and must be organized with good time management skills.
