The Conventional Function Lead position for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Reservoir Engineering team at the company’s Houston, TX office reporting to the VP, Reservoir Engineering. We are seeking an experienced and integrated technical leader to manage the functional aspects of the conventional reservoir engineering team.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
Talent Management
Conduct yearly one-on-one skill assessments
Provide routine feedback and quarterly one-on-one check-ins
Identify and define development goals and career plan
Identify and source training opportunities
Perform mid and end-of-year performance reviews
Provide resource to staff asset teams; manage internal pool and recruit externally as needed
Technical standards and assurance
Establish and implement technical best practices for conventional reservoir engineering
Ensure standardization and consistency; create rightsized solutions as needed
Providing technical guidance, training, and oversight to team
Conduct technical reviews; ensure quality technical characterizations
Facilitate shared learnings across asset teams
Resource management
Ensure engineers have resources required to succeed at job (software, training, time)
Communication and collaboration
Ensure consistency and alignment amongst asset teams as well as cross-discipline function leads and asset managers Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
BS in petroleum engineering or related engineering degree
15+ yrs experience with E&P company
Experience supervising reservoir engineers
Conventional reservoir experience with emphasis on integrated subsurface evaluation
Good understanding of economic evaluation and risk/uncertainty assessment
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and look-ahead to ensure deliverability of company needs
Self-starter and ability to accomplish tasks without supervision
Must be detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to present to executive-level audience
Knowledge of database, engineering, and geoscience software, including Harmony, tNavigator/Eclipse, Kappa, PetroVR, PETEX, ARIES, Spotfire Competencies
